2009 Quilt Finishes

I am very happy to say that I have finished all the quilts that I planned to finish in 2009. I cannot upload pictures until I am back home, but I finished my Patisserie Stars Quilt (made for a gift, and not blogged yet), I finished the Heritage Jelly Roll Quilt, and my Simple Abundance - Scruffily quilt.

Pictures to come soon!

Cinnabon Update

We went to King of Prussia Mall with two goals...one being the hunt for a gift, the second being the Cinnabon mission. We got to the mall, and went to the directory. There was no Cinnabon listed. I was terribly disappointed. I couldn't understand how the online (Cinnabon website) listing could be wrong. But it simply wasn't there. We tried calling the number and there was no answer.

After asking the very nice gentleman in the Sony Style store if the cinnabons had ever been here, he told me they were still here. I was perplexed. He gave us directions to the other side of the mall, and told me that I would be able to smell it. Sure enough, we walked, and we could smell. It was delicious. The wonderful husband that I have told me that we could still stop at Vince Lombardi and pick up the box to go when we drive by again!

The Quest for Cinnabon....

I have been craving a cinnabon for a while now. This was originally satisfied very briefly with  Grands Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls w/ Cinnabon Icing, but only with the knowledge that a drive by the Vince Lombardi service station on I-95 would have Cinnabons waiting for me. This plan went to the dogs when we opted for the Tappan Zee Bridge instead of the George Washington Bridge from New York to New Jersey. When we finally made it back to I95 we were well passed the Vince Lombardi. I am sure there were other stops on the NJ Turnpike that was host to a Cinnabon, but it was not the one we stopped at for gas on Monday night, and there certainly were not going to be any other stops before we arrived at our destination.

Tuesday was the day we planned to finish our Christmas shopping. We chose the mall that I remembered hosting a Cinnabon. Though it was no longer present at the Willow Grove Mall in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.

Cinnamon rolls are deeply ingrained in my holiday traditions. When I was younger, the family would always sit down for a good holiday movie on Christmas Eve, with an assortment of holiday treats. This assortment always included cinnamon rolls with yummy icing. In recent years we have always picked up a Cinnabon on the way down to his parents house.

On Saturday we trekked down to Baltimore to see David, Becca, and Lucy. We did see a service station that contained the very elusive, warm, and sticky Cinnabon, but we had no plans to stop. We were also on our way to a very yummy Carraba's dinner, so we drove passed. With the traffic (averaging about 30mph) had to drive by many signs very, very slowly.

Today we will venture out again. These our the three closest options.

Blizzard 2009

So this morning the snow was up taller than my knees. The husband was shoveling the car out of the driveway, because today was a duty day. Interestingly, the neighbor across the street required a tow truck to get home, so this truck was just out of our driveway blocking the street. An interesting series of events followed.

This is how tall the snow is...I came outside about 20 minutes after the husband started shoveling.
This is me. Drew carved a nice little path from the front door to the drive.

This is the tow truck blocking the road. Drew still had to back out of the driveway, but backed himself into the snow bank on the other side of the road.

This is one nice thing about the new uniform, warm enought to shovel snow. This is round 2 of shoveling (on the neighbors side of the street).

The nice tow truck driver gave the CRV a little tug to get her un-stuck. The tow truck driver's one request....."Please don't hit my truck!"

New Sewing Machine Accessory!

I am very excited, the husband is building me a special box for my sewing machine, for the purpose of transportation. The granny machine is a very delicate appliance, and unfortunately she only stands up strait when she sits in her special table due to the pins that stick out the bottom. (These are meant to secure her to her special sewing table.) Our upcoming move put the frightening thought in my mind of how the movers might treat her. I decided long ago that the granny machine would be part of our DITY pack up, but I wasn't so sure how to store her, and properly protect this 58 year old treasure. The husband is going to make a special box so that she sit flat even with the pins attached. This will definately make packing the car easier if we don't have to worry about packing around her delicate knobs and levers! Pictures soon to come!

Deeeaaar Santa...

Deeeaaar Santa...

(In the spirit of the wonderful contest over at the Jolly Jabber)

I know that I have lots of "plans" for what I want to do with the fabric I have. But I truly just love looking at all the beautiful things in my sewing room, whether they stitched, or in lovely little bundles waiting to be stitched.

I know my husband does not want me buying more quilty things, but if they are brought by Santa, that is okay!

I would like the Eva Layer cake (Yardage for borders and backing would be well loved also.)

Some other things you can stuff in my stocking....

Peanut Butter Brownies

These are the super yummy and delicious peanut butter brownies. They work up pretty easily, and I love how beautiful the layers look. Don't mind tha kahlua in the background, these sweets are alcohol free. My counter, however, is not. (At least not at the time of this picture)

Back to Normal

It is nice to have some normal back. Its almost like he never left. Six months is such a long time. He probably not stay in the navy, and hopefully this will be the last deployment. For now, we are just enjoying having quality time at home. It has been along time since I have had the regular opportunity to cook. Six months of dining with friends was nice, but I now I can cook again, and there is someone to eat it...no transportation required!

Last night I discovered this wonderful brownie peanut butter concoction. It starts with a brownie mix, and is very easy. I am planning to make another one tonight for the duty section.

I have not had much time for sewing, as veg time on the couch is getting a higher priority. I did get my schnibbles pattern in the mail. It is tuffets, so they are small, and I haven't made myself any pincushions yet, so these will be cute. I haven't decided which charms to use. I have some Authentic, some Simple Abundance, and some other random charms here and there. I also have three finished tops to baste. I do want to finish these all before Pennsylvania!

Home!

Drew is the guy in blue in the sail! He was the lucky one to drive home! They came on Tuesday, and we have had a great couple of days.
