Picnic Schnibble (November)

This is the November Schnibble project. Yes, I realize it is April, but I have an excuse....November was very busy month for me. I will admit it. I was afraid of this one (and it took me long enough to finish it), but I was afraid of the two before this one as well. The schnibbles project was my way of forcing myself to try new techniques. As my sewing skills and pattern kahoneys are still rather green....I am still a little hesitant to try some of these techniques. I wasn't really in love with this pattern, but I bought the kit, and I wasn't really in love with the kit either, so it kind of got put off to the side for some other projects that needed finishing. Then as usual, life got in the way and I never really felt the urge to go start it.

Then, miraculously, I found a gorgeous little Picnic kit in a little quilt shop outside of Philly (near the in-laws). The quilt was a great grouping of Fig Tree prints. I don't know what line it is, but I recognized it was fig tree.

March Schnibble Completed!

With a whole day to spare...I have finished it, and I think it looks fantastic! I used Patisserie fabric.  Somehow I acquired lot of this fabric, and I still have a couple more charm packs and a jelly roll. Hmm...what to do with those?

I still have a couple older schnibbles in progress, but I get to be in the parade this month. My four hours of uninterrupted sewing was party due to the husband having to work late this evening.

WIP Wednesday

Oregon 163

So I am actually making good headway on this one. I have about 10 of the blocks done. Assembly required!

So this is a fabulous little quilt from Quilt Taffy. It is the Love U by deb Strain. I do have a tenative plan for when this does get finished. I am about halfway throught the cutting process!

This is cut and ready to sew the first five blocks of the Pinwheel Quilt-A-Long over at Psiquilt.com. Yes, it is more Neptune fabric. But I love this line. It is awesome. I purchased enought so I could make navy related quilts for all my fantastic navy friends (this seems to be slow going)!

This is March Schnibbles. I hope I can finish this one so I can be in the parade of schnibbles. Yes, I know there are two blocks that have the same three bars. Somehow this was acheived randomly. I don't get it. I am not taking them out though. I will just have to make sure to stick them at opposite corners.

This is my problem. I was doing great last night, when the foot pedal cord fell out of the machine. This has been an ongoing problem since before the move. The pegs that plug in had gotten a little loose. The husband made a great fix, and it left me with a few weeks of uninterrupted sewing, but that fix has now come back to bite me in the behind. Seems after 59 years of wedded bliss, these two are no longer *ahem* compatible. As you can see one of those little metal conductors has broken right off the cord, and has lodged itself inside the outlet. Hmmm....now we must get that metal thing out of the outlet and somehow acquire a new foot pedeal cord.

Yikes, what am I to do...so many projects to finish!

Schnibbles Excuses

I didn't finish Schnibbles this month either, however, I do plan to complete both November and December. My November priorities were more focused on the end of the deployment, and the Picnic Schnibble did not call to me as loudly as the others had. During December, I had so many projects that I wanted to finish, and we left for the last half of the month for vacation, so alas, no tuffets either.

I found the greatest little shop in Pennsylvania, and found a cute little Picnic kit. It spoke to me, and I cannot wait to get started. I am going to finish my tuffets also. So my goal for January is to finish Picnic, Tuffets, and Madeline.

I am amazed by all the others that have been completed, and it is fun to see everyone's unique insight into the pattern! I am excited to try the Madeline pattern. I don't think I will do it in Red. I have some Authentic charm packs that would look great in this pattern.

Update: I joined the Charming Girls Quilt Club, so this will be my encouragement for finishing the extra schnibbles!
